Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Founded in 1913 at Howard University with the intention to promote academic excellence and to serve those in need.  The first public act of the organization was participation in the Women's Suffrage March in 1913 in Washington, D.C.  Today, Delta Sigma Theta is the largest African American Greek-lettered organization in the world.  Delta Sigma Theta has partnered with other organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the American Heart Association, and the World AIDS Foundation.  The Eta Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Theta was the first Greek-letter organization to charter at VCU.  The chapter joined the campus in 1970.



The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization's Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

*Political Awareness and Involvement
